The day we've all been waiting for has finally arrived (sorry for the late post)! Episode 1 of the highly anticipated Rookie Blue aired this past Thursday in BOTH the us and canada. And the episode undoubtably met all of my expectations. Seriously, the show pulled all the stops on this one in order to entice the audience.
The show started with an initiation/hazing party for the new officers, which actually had no steamy hook-ups or forbidden affairs, just a game of who-can-get-their-cuffs-off-the-fastest. The girl who won (blonde cop) cheated. The main girl (Andy) lost by seconds.
Then the show focused on their first day of work. The cocky cop got stuck with a no-nonsense senior cop. The prissy cop got stuck with a no-nonsense-black-woman cop, and Andy got stuck with a cop who likes to eat a lot. In all, every character has a very established stereotype, merely 20 mins into the episode. The blonde girl and the over-excited boy cop got stuck in the office for the day.
Not two minutes into their patrol, Andy and the food-lovin cop get hailed for a problem out in a shady apartment building. Andy is anxious to go, f.l. wants to go get breakfast. Andy wins. Right after they arrive on scene, they hear gunshots and Andy freaks out. They enter the building yadda-yadda, its all exciting, and then Andy ends up chasing this guys who matches the gun-mans description and makes the arrest. Back at the office, Andy finds out that the drug-dealer gun-man was actually an undercover cop working on an eight-month discovery of a coke dealer. Whoops, Andy broke his cover on her first day! A hate-hate relationship is established between the two.
Andy soon redeems herself as she goes back to the crime scene, flirts with the cute detective, and then arrests an under-18 gunman. Exciting episode!!
I did not ask to train a rookie. I did not ask to have a partner... Well, I did not ask to watch the whole season of the much-anticipated "Rookie Blue" show simulcasted on ABC. What "simulcasted" means exactly, I do not know. But I do know that every Thursday night at 9 pm eastern, I will be watching Rookie Blue, and I will be blogging weekly synopsis of the show-downs and hook-ups. So get ready for life "under the gun"...

Pre-Season Blues
Everyone thinks of po-pos as lean, mean, fighting machines. They're the guys you watch out for on the road, the guys who pull you over when you "accidentally" roll through a stop sign, and the guys who you run from when they bust the party you're at. But who are the police, on a personal basis? What are they feeling when they rip out their guns and knock down doors?
Rookie Blue aims to explain the inner-feelings of Canadian cops, fresh from the academy, as they struggle to shape their identities as police officers. Described as the "Grey's Anatomy of cops", this show will surely entertain with steamy hook-ups and inter-police force drama. Some critics rave that RB will be a nice substitute for 24. Some say that RB will be cancelled before the end of the season. And others believe that the show will not be suitable for children under age 12.
Yet criticism aside, this show will definitely provide a few laughs. I can't wait.
